FRAMINGHAM – Sorry this isn’t exactly in the neighborhood, but looked interesting enough to share: 1) The ‘parkrun’ movement is coming to Framingham’s Farm Pond Park on Saturdays starting this week; and 2) the 10th annual Jack’s Abby United Way 5K is on Saturday, Sept. 20.

parkrun

New planned 5K events are on the schedule at Farm Pond every Saturday starting Sept. 13 at 9 am, aimed at people who want to improve their health and/or make new friends and socialize. Walkers as well as runners are welcome, as are strollers and dogs – and people who want to watch or volunteer.

You can register at parkrun.us to get a bar code to print out if you want to track your time. Registration is free and you only have to register once. More info on the Framingham events at https://www.parkrun.us/farmpond/

United Way 5K

The 10th annual Jack’s Abby United Way 5K starts and ends at Jack’s Abby, 100 Clinton Street. Registration is currently $35 per person to raise money for United Way programs (you can choose among several to support, including the Pearl Street Cupboard & Cafe and Ready to Read: Early Literacy).

The race kicks off at 10 am on Saturday, Sept. 20.

The registration fee also includes a free beer in the Jack’s Abby Beer Hall and Beer Garden for runners at least 21 years old at the post-race celebration.
