FRAMINGHAM – The city is hosting a neighborhood meeting on Thursday, March 19 to discuss a project to replace water and sewer pipes on Central and Kellogg streets. The meeting starts at 7 pm in the Dunning Elementary School cafeteria.

According to an announcement posted on the city website, the project includes replacing 13,600 feet of water mains along Central Street from the Sudbury River Bridge near Edgell Road to the Purchase Street intersection near Saxonville Falls and along Kellogg Street from Central Street to Prospect Street. Another 1,700 feet of sewer pipes will be replaced on Central Street, as well as 9,100 feet of sewer pipes on Central and Kellogg streets to be “rehabilitated using a trenchless structural cured-in-place pipe process.”

Construction is expected to take place from this spring through fall 2027.

There was no information posted about possible effects on traffic, but the city said that “residents who live in or travel through the area are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about the project timeline, construction impacts, and project benefits.” The water mains being replaced are unlined cast iron, some dating back to 1906 and others to 1927, and have been targeted as high priority for replacement, the city said.

Dunning Elementary School is at 48 Frost Street off Brook Street (near Walsh Middle School).
