Announcement from the city:

The City of Framingham Water & Sewer Division is announcing water main replacement work on Johnson Street and Purchase Street will begin on Monday, March 30, 2026.

The project will be completed by Russo Bros. and is expected to last approximately 8 to 10 weeks, weather permitting.

Notices have been distributed to immediate abutters.

Work will include the installation of a temporary water bypass system.

During this phase, temporary fire hydrants will be installed either in the same location as existing hydrants or directly across the street.

Work Hours and Parking Restrictions:

Construction will take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be no on-street parking during working hours, and signage was posted on Friday and remain in place for the duration of the project.

Traffic and Access Impacts:

Police details will be on-site as needed to assist with local traffic.

Access will be maintained; however, delays and minor disruptions are expected.

During water main replacement on Johnson Street beyond the intersection with Purchase Street (toward the dead end), roadway conditions will become tight and difficult to pass.

Residents in this affected dead-end section will receive additional notice when work in that area is scheduled. At that time, residents will be asked to move vehicles out of driveways prior to 7 a.m. and park on Purchase Street to ensure access throughout the day.

Residents will also be notified separately of any temporary water service interruptions.
