First and most important: If you’re planning on being outdoors Friday or Saturday, please be careful about the heat!! One of the best things I’ve seen to educate yourself on heat issues: 6 things to know about heat illness (a Your Local Epidemiologist newsletter).

There’s not much going on in Framingham in terms of special holiday activities that I can see. However, nearby in Sudbury, the annual 4th of July parade kicks off at 1 pm Saturday and typically lasts 1 or 2 hours. The route runs from Union Avenue at Chiswick Park to Rte 20 east, then Concord Road north to Sudbury Town Center.

See more info at the town’s parade web page.

The Sudbury website says road closures will start at 12:30 pm and be in effect by 12:45. Closing on Saturday afternoon:

Union Avenue
Rte 20 from Nobscot Road Landham Road
Concord Road from Rte 20 to Plympton Road
Rte 27 from Water Row to Peakham Road

Expect delays in the area between 12:45 and 4 pm.

Elsewhere, Natick is having a free community picnic from noon to 4 pm on the Natick Town Common featuring games, music, food trucks, and a kids parade at 1:30. More info: https://www.natick4th.org/events.

And a bit farther from Framingham, the Concord Fife and Drum is hosting a free demonstration of Revolutionary War era music at The Old Manse (269 Monument Street) on Friday, July 3 from 11 am to noon. Advanced registration is suggested. Info: https://thetrustees.org/event/446923/
