FRAMINGHM – The McGrath Square renovation project’s “final revised design is currently underway,” according to this week’s city newsletter. The expected timeline has a neighborhood meeting sometimes this winter, followed by:
- Water main work from Chestnut Street to Watson Place in Spring 2027
- Project bids going out in late Spring 2027
- Construction beginning in Summer 2027
- “Substantial completion” by Fall of 2028.
Design plans will be updated to include property at the corner of Danforth and Concord Streets. Saxonville Mills owner Charlotte Maynard acquired that property and had the old brick building there demolished, in hopes that the city will acquire it (perhaps in a property swap) and improve sight lines and traffic flow for vehicles going from Central Street to Danforth Street.
