FRAMINGHAM – Temperatures might not have gotten out of the 40s today, but it’s nevertheless time for gardeners to think about what they want to plant this year! If that’s you, and you haven’t started your own seedlings, some local updates of possible interest:

Stearns Farms’ in-person seedling sale isn’t until next month, but online seedling orders just opened today for pick-up the weekends of May 9-10 or May 16-17 . They also have CSA shares.

Hanson’s Farm isn’t open for the season yet, but they’ll be at the Framingham Earth Day festival Saturday, April 25 with some tomato and herb plants for sale as well as CSA vegetable and flower shares. The Earth Day Festival is from 11 am to 3 pm at the Framingham Centre Common. You can see more info on the farm’s Facebook page.

River’s Edge, 8 Auburn St. off Edgell Road, is open for the season, with April hours 9 am to 5:30 pm. (That changes to 9 am to 6 pm weekdays and 8 am to 6 pm on weekends from May 1 to June 15.) “We’re loaded up with pansies, perennials, herbs, cold weather veggies and lots more!” they posted on Facebook. “And yes we have a great selection of creeping phlox.”

And, Garden in the Woods sells native plants at its outdoor garden shop. You can see their list of plant types, prices, and about when they’ll likely be available. The shop is open daily 10 am to 5 pm at 180 Hemenway Road.

Nearby Russell’s Garden Center at 397 Boston Post Road in Wayland is open as well, with hours daily from 9 am to 6 pm.

Looking for gardening programs? The McAuliffe Library will be hosting Come Plant With Us from 2 to 3 pm on May 9, to learn how to transplant seedlings outdoors into the library garden (event will be cancelled if weather is bad).
