FRAMINGHAM – Upcoming events of interest in and near the neighborhood:
Friday, May 8, 7 to 9 pm at Edwards Hall, 39 Edwards St.: An Evening of Art, Poetry, and Performance in support of Open Spirit, featuring a performance by Harmony Grove’s Willie Sordillo and singer Zoe Kronhe with visual artist Patrick St. Pierre painting his impression of the music in real time. Plus several poetry readings and an art/pottery/photography show. Tickets $25.
Saturday, May 9, 1 to 2 pm at the School Street start of the Cochituate Rail Trail: Opening celebration of Art of Moving outdoor art exhibit, featuring refreshments, entertainment, and of course art. Sponsored by Framingham Cultural Council and Friends of Framingham Trails.
Saturday, May 9, 2 to 3 pm, McAuliffe Library: Come Plant With Us to learn how to transplant seedlings outdoors in the library garden. Program will be cancelled in case of bad weather.
Thursday, May 14, 6:30 pm, Edwards Hall at Open Spirit, 39 Edwards St.: Friends of Saxonville Annual Community Meeting, public invited, featuring presentations by State Rep. Jack Lewis and District 2 City Councilor Brandon Ward. Informal mingling and refreshments at 6:30 pm, program starts at 7.
Saturday, May 16, 9 am to noon: Plant Sale on the Framingham Centre Common (Edgell Road and Vernon Street), 9 am to noon, sponsored by the Pinefield Garden Club. Proceeds support the gardens they tend (Village Hall, Simpson Park and elsewhere) as well as other activities.
Sunday, May 17, noon to 5 pm: Annual Framingham History Center House Tour, see several private historic homes and notable buildings in the city. Tickets $35.
May 9, 10, 16 & 17, 9 am to 2 pm: Stearns Farm Annual Seedling Sale, 862 Edmands Road.
And, not on their website or Facebook page yet, but I called, and Hanson’s Farm at 20 Nixon Road will be open this weekend for Mother’s Day plant shopping, 9 to 5. You may want to call and confirm if they haven’t posted yet.
Another great local place to find seedlings and gift plants: River’s Edge, 8 Auburn St. Ext., open 8 am to 6 pm on May weekends, 9 am to 5 pm on May weekdays.
