FRAMINGHAM – Open Spirit, OutMetroWest, and the Framingham History Center are hosting an inter-generational Pride history dinner this Sunday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Edwards Hall at Open Spirit (on the campus of Edwards Church), 39 Edwards St.

The evening, titled “We Will Not Be Erased,” will be built around a communal vegetarian meal. In addition, Anna Tucker, director of the Framingham History Center, will talk about Buffy Dennison Dunker (1906-1993), a groundbreaking Framingham LGBTQ+ activist. And, Lily Pearl, OutMetroWest’s program and education manager, will speak about the person who helped her claim her own wholeness and beauty.

After the meal, attendees will be invited to share a story about an “ancestor” – related by family or not – who helped them claim their identity. Organizers will build a tree out of all those connections. Attendees are invited to bring a picture, but the event announcement stressed that there will not be any pressure to speak.

Those who identify as LGBTQ+ or as an ally are welcome.

Suggested donation is $5 to $30, free for OutMetroWest participants. Register here — organizers are asking people to sign up so they can plan the food.

Anyone who needs an accommodation can reach Open Spirit ahead of time at info@openspiritcenter.org or 508-877-2050.
