FRAMINGHAM – The second annual “Framingham FEST” takes place this Saturday, 11 am to 3 pm, on the Framingham Centre Common featuring live music, 140 booths, food trucks, and more. It’s free to attend.
The entertainment schedule, according to the city newsletter:
- 11:10–11:40 a.m. — Framingham Blazers Jazz Band
- 11:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m. — Mostly Petty (Tom Petty tribute band + other ’80s and ’90s rock)
- 12:15–12:45 p.m. — Mascot Competition
- 12:45–1 p.m. — Heavy Quinn Irish Dance
- 1–1:30 p.m. —FM Collective (a Boston-based Latin hip-hop and jazz band)
- 1:30–2 p.m. — Mass Capoeira Culture Center (capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian “martial art and game that includes elements of dance, acrobatics, music, and spirituality,” according to Wikipedia)
- 2–2:10 p.m. — City Kids Dance Group
- 2:10–2:30 p.m. — All In One
- 2:30–2:45 p.m. — Mass Ballet
- 2:45–2:52 p.m. — Walsh Middle School Theatre Arts
- 2:53-3 p.m. - Centre Music House students
Also this weekend, Jack’s Abby is celebrating Oktoberfest including “shutting down Clinton Street and turning it into one giant Oktoberfest party, complete with live street bands, a festive beer garden, German-inspired food, and classic Oktoberfest competitions.” That’s Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm. There’s an admission charge starting at $17.85.
Jack’s Abby continues its Clinton Street Oktoberfest celebration on Sunday from 11 to 6, this time with “a full day of family- and dog-friendly fun! We’re taking over Clinton Street once again with live street bands, a festive beer garden, great food, plenty of Jack’s Abby lagers, and classic Oktoberfest activities.” There will also be a kids area, bouncy house, and dog costume contest. Admission starts at $12.51; kids are free (although it doesn’t say up to what age).
And, The Wayside Inn Foundation is hosting its free Apple Fest Family Day Saturday with live performances, historical demonstrations, family storytelling, hayrides, educational activity booths, and craft booths and food vendors. That’s from 10 am to 2 pm at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury (72 Wayside Inn Road). Since it kicks off an hour before Framingham FEST and it’s only around a 15-minute drive between them, it would be easy to attend both 😀
National Weather Service is predicting a partly sunny day with highs in the upper 60s on Saturday.
